Exporting Artifacts in XML Format

Project Tracker has the ability to import and export artifacts in XML format.

To export an artifact in XML format from a query results page

  1. In a project that uses Project Tracker, click Project Tracker > Query Artifacts in the left navigation pane.
  2. Click the Create New button or click the link for an existing query.
  3. If you are creating a new query, enter your criteria and click Submit.
  4. In the Query Results section of the query results page, click the drop-down list labeled Export Results To and select XML (full artifact).

Note: In case you query an artifact of an artifact type that has a Date attribute associated to it, export it to an Excel (XLS) format from the "Export Results To" option and open it using the Excel editor, for example Microsoft Excel; there is a possibility that the cells having the "Date" property may not display the date in the format used by Project Tracker; which is "YYYY-MM-DD". This is because of the date settings used by your Excel editor, even though the actual date reamins the same. To change the appearance of the date in the excel file exported, do the following in your excel editor:

  1. Select the entire Column or Row or specific cells in the excel sheet which has the Date property associated to it.
  2. Right-click and select the Format Cells option.
  3. Under the Number tab, select the Custom category option.
  4. From the sub-menu that appears on the right, in the Type textbox, enter the following: "yyyy-mm-dd" (without quotes)
  5. Click the OK button to save the changes.

This will make sure that dates appear in the "yyyy-mm-dd" format no matter what the date settings is used by your Operating System. Changing the date settings of your Operating system will have affect other applications as well.
