Advanced Subversion

To get the full benefit of Subversion, you may need to become familiar with some advanced concepts.

Building Subversion URLs: Generally the URL to a project carries the project name and the domain name. For example: http://[projectname].[domainname]
WebDAV and Subversion: Autoversioning enables non-technical users to receive the benefits of version control without having to learn how to use a Subversion client. Generic WebDAV clients are allowed to write directly to a Subversion repository, and the server performs the commits silently.
Character Encoding: Character encodings are the organization of numeric codes that represent the characters of a character set in memory. Each character in a language is assigned a unique pattern of numeric codes. If encoding is not handled correctly, it can cause problems with Subversion functionality.
