Creating and administering a process-based project

Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) consists of a set of procedures and tools that guide project members through various aspects of a development process, for example, product definition, design, and deployment. CollabNet provides an ALM template known as the CollabNet Baseline Project template. The CollabNet Baseline Project template enables you to create projects that guide project members through a development process. You can apply this template when you start a new project. Additionally, domain administrators at your site can create custom project templates.

If a domain administrator has configured your site to use the CollabNet Baseline Project template or a custom template, you can select a project template at the start of a new project. Once you have created a project that uses a template, you can customize the template. For example, you can modify the landing pages for a subpage or a page, and you can add subdirectories that contain project content, document upload tables, and so on.

You cannot convert an existing project managed in CVS to one that uses a project template.

This Help describes how to create and manage a project that uses a project template. Additional help exists on participating in a project that uses a project template. You need domain administrator privileges to create a custom project template.

Before working with project templates, you should be familiar with the following:

Note: This Help describes how to work with the CollabNet Baseline Project template. The project templates available in your environment may use this template or custom templates. Custom templates may not have all of the content of the CollabNet Baseline Project template, or they may have additional content and functionality.
