The Configure Domain page

Use the Configure Domain page to set options for your CollabNet domain.

Caution: Set these options with care. A misconfigured option can adversely affect the whole domain.

The Configure domain page enables you to configure the following options:

Framework

Domain settings

Enabled functionality

Enable Project Pages
Users can edit project content with the rich editor in the Web interface.
Enable ETL
The Project Metrics tool uses the Extract Transform Load (ETL) mechanism to extract data daily from the production system, and transform and load it into a reporting warehouse. Reports are generated based on the warehouse data. Use this option to enable or disable the ETL mechanism to harvest data for the Project metrics tool.

Note: When this setting is disabled at the domain level, you cannot generate Project Metrics reports in any project in your domain.

Enable project templating.
Allow project owners to choose from the available project templates when creating a project.
Enable discussions
Flag to enable or disable the discussions component.
Enable project wikis
You can disable or enable the project wiki tool for collaborative content development.
Enable Project dashboard
Enable or disable Project dashboard component.
Enable CVS
Choose whether to enable or disable the CVS Administration interface. If enabled, you can see the link CVS ⇒ Administer in the left navigation pane. This allows you some functions like Permanent Deletion and Permanent Rename that are not available as normal CVS operations.

Note: This option is available only if the feature is already enabled at the Host Administration level.

Component choices available to new projects

Tracking component
There are two available tracking option, Issue Tracker or Project Tracker. You can choose to make one or both options available for use in new projects.
Versioning component
You can select CVS (Concurrent Versions System), Subversion, or both. If only one versioning component is selected, new projects automatically use that component. If both options are selected, project owners can select the component they want their project to use.

Access policy

Allow guest access
Checking this allows users to use public portions of the site without logging in.

Note: Guest users can always view the Terms of service and Privacy policy pages while they are not logged in.

Allow anonymous access to domain home.
Allows access for any user who has not logged in. Overrides the Allow guest access setting.
Users can edit own organizations
Allow users to edit the Organization field in their own profiles.
Suppress gathering of full name and organization
Restricts the display of information about users to their username.
Enforce click-throughX
You can enable or disable the requirement for users to agree to the Terms of service.

Note: This option is available only if allowed by the Host administrator.

Allow basic HTTP auth
Allows users to authenticate with basic HTTP authentication. This lets them use RSS readers, Java Web Start, and other web clients that are not web browsers. When you enable this option, users accessing resources with such tools get a basic HTTP authentication dialog box requesting username and password. If the user cancels the operation, a "401 Authorization Required" error message appears.

CUBiT settings

Enable CUBiT integration
Selecting this option enables integration with the CUBiT application for build and test automation, for the domain.

Authentication settings

Enable external authentication realms
Checking this option enables external authentication realms for the particular domain. This feature can be disabled at the domain level only if all users have been moved to the default CollabNet authentication realm from all the external authentication realms associated with the domain.

CollabNet platform password security for domain users

Send plaintext passwords to new users
If this option is checked, user passwords are sent in the clear. If unchecked, users receive an email message telling them to set their password. There are obvious risks associated with sending passwords in the clear. Use this option only if absolutely necessary.
Minimum password length
Users cannot choose passwords shorter than this length.
Forbid username from use in passwords
Users cannot choose passwords that contain their usernames.
Forbidden password strings (one per line)
Users cannot choose passwords that contain these strings, or case-shifted variants of them. For example, you might choose to disallow the use of your company's name.
Number of required character classes
A password must contain representatives of at least this number of character classes. For example, if your policy is that users must include both upper and lower case letters, you should set this value to '2' in this field. These are the character classes:
  • Lower-case alphabetic characters (a-z)
  • Upper-case alphabetic characters (A-Z)
  • Numeric characters (0-9)
  • Non-alphanumeric characters(!#$: etc.)
Reject passwords based on dictionary words
Proposed passwords are rejected if they are less than six characters long, are based on dictionary words, or are otherwise easy to guess.
Administrative password changes require user password changes after login.
When a user logs in with an administrator-supplied password, they must change their password before being able to use the site.
Size of user's password history
Users cannot change their password to a password currently in their password history. A larger password history will require users to have a wider variety of passwords.
Password expiry period for admins (days)
When the specified period has passed, admin users cannot use the site without changing their password. To disable this feature, set this value to zero.
Password expiration period for non-admins (days)
When the specified period has passed, non-admin users cannot use the site without changing their password. To disable this feature, set this value to zero.
Users with non-expiring password
Password will never expire for users in this list. This is a potential security risk and users should be added to this list with discretion.
Password ticket expiration period for admins (days)
Number of days a password ticket is valid for admin users. If you set this to 0, tickets never expire.
Password ticket expiration period for non-admins (days)
Number of days a password ticket is valid for a non-admin user. If you set this to 0, tickets never expire.
Password expiry warning period (days)
Starting the specified number of days before a user's password expiration date, users are informed upon every login that their password is about to expire and that they should change it. In addition, password expiry warning email will be sent.
Authentication failures before lockout.
If a user fails authentication the given number of times, their account is locked and an administrator must unlock it. Set this value to zero to disable this feature.

Other security settings

Expiration period for project invitations
Number of days a project invitation is valid. If you set this to 0, invitations never expire.

Discussions

Max feed body size
Sets the maximum body size in bytes for RSS feeds. A value of 0 specifies that the entire message body will be included in the feed.
Maximum prefix size
Determines the maximum length of the subject line prefix for a discussion. This is a limitation enforced on all discussions that are created after the setting is saved. For these discussions, a prefix cannot be entered that is longer than the maximum length setting.

Note: For discussions that existed prior to establishing a maximum prefix length, the discussion must be manually edited for the setting to take effect. When you open the discussions edit page, a warning will explain that the current prefix length exceeds the maximum, and that the prefix value has been truncated for display. You can accept the truncated prefix or edit it. However, the prefix value is not actually changed until the page is submitted. If you do not submit the page, the prefix is unchanged and it may continue to exceed the maximum length value.

Send posting subjects
Indicates whether or not the discussion posting subject can be used in the subject line of notification emails.
  • Force all discussions to send the posting with the subject.
  • Force all discussions not to send the posting with the subject.
  • Decide at the project level.

  • To everybody

Issue tracker

Allow issue deletion
Allow users with the proper permissions to configure the Issue Tracker tool at the project level to either allow or disallow deletion of a component (sub-component, version or milestone) and the issues associated with it. In Issue Tracker, a project owner can set the policy of allowing issue deletion before deleting a component, sub-component, version or milestone that has issues associated to it. However, the domain administrator has the option to override the project owner's policy settings.
